PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid electrolytic capacitor which has an excellent water resistance and excellent resistances to humidity and heat at a high temperature and humidity, has excellent durability and reliability, an excellent adhesion between a solid electrolyte and a dielectric coating, has a small resistance in a high frequency regions, and a large electrostatic capacity; and also to provide a method for manufacturing the solid electrolytic capacitor. SOLUTION: In the solid electrolytic capacitor, a dielectric film is provided on a film formation metal, and a film made of a conductive polyaniline composition containing polyaniline doped in phenol-sulfonic acid novolac resin is provided on the dielectric film as a solid electrolyte. In the method for manufacturing a solid electrolytic capacitor, a dielectric film is formed on a film formation metal, a polyaniline film is formed on the dielectric film, an aqueous solution of phenol-sulfonic acid novolac resin is brought into contact with the polyaniline film, and the polyaniline is doped with the phenol-sulfonic acid novolac resin.
