PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize smooth start by avoiding engine stall in a continuously variable transmission having a method of starting while slipping a start clutch. SOLUTION: The start clutch is clutched at a D range, and then the clutch is slipped at a first slip amount D0 when an accelerator pedal is not operated and car speed vsp is lower than a predetermined car speed vsp1 (till t1). When the accelerator pedal is operated from the state, the clutch is slipped at second slip amounts D1 and D2 larger than the first slip amount D0 (t1 to t3), and is slipped at a third slip amount D3 that is smaller than the first slip amount D0 and responds to the engine output (t3 to t4). Then, slip amount D4 is decreased slowly at a constant rate to perfectly fasten the clutch (t4 to t5). When an accelerator is tuned on from a creep control state, the clutch is slipped more largely than the creep control time and therefore rapid decrease of engine speed can be suppressed.
|
