摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct defective pixel data contained in image data. SOLUTION: A decision reference value setting circuit 13 detects a maximum level Hmax and a minimum level Hmin of peripheral pixels arranged around a target pixel, adds an offset value OS to the detected level Hmax to set a first decision reference value Hw, and subtracts the value OS from the value Hmin to set a second decision reference value Hb. A detection circuit 14 compares the level of image data Y(P0), corresponding to the target pixel with the values Hw and Hb. If the level of the data Y(P0) of the pixel of interest is larger tan the value Hw or smaller than the value Hb, the circuit 14 determines that the pixel of interest is a defective pixel, and initiates detection outputs Dw and Db. In response to the initiation of outputs Dw and Db, a correction circuit 16 replaces the data Y(P0) with correction data Y'(P0) and outputs the corrected data.
