PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can eliminate accumulated programs easily and besides without fail, in program recording and playback equipment which has the function of accumulating broadcast programs. SOLUTION: Concerning a videotaped program, prior to the erasure of a broadcast program, this equipment inquires the user of the propriety of erasure of a program that the user has looked at and listened to, when he has viewed at and listened to the recorded broadcast program for a certain time or longer.
