PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide portable telephone equipment equipped with a function for preventing a strong electromagnetic wave from being generated closely to the head of the user of a portable telephone. SOLUTION: In portable telephone equipment 100, in which a transmitter/ receiver 110 for performing communication with a base station by using an electromagnetic wave W1 and a transmitter/receiver 120 to be used proximately to or while being mounted on the head of the user are mutually separated and communication between the transmitter/receiver 110 and the transmitter/ receiver 120 is performed by using a weak electromagnetic wave W2 reducing an influence upon the head rather than the electromagnetic wave W1 to be used for the communication between the base station and the transmitter/ receiver 110; when a distance between the transmitter/receiver 120 and the transmitter/receiver 110 becomes shorter than a prescribed distance, the generation of the electromagnetic wave W1 from the transmitter/receiver 110 is stopped.
