PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which shortens the moving time for traverse and performs stable traverse movement without learning the number of brake pieces corresponding to the number of traverse movements. SOLUTION: This optical disk device has a means 13 for counting the number of traverse movements which counts the number of moved tracks and a means 16 for setting an offset to the driving voltage of a traverse motor which sets the offset quantity to the voltage for driving the traverse motor, and it is characterized in that control means stepwise updates the offset quantity in accordance with the target number of the moved tracks to perform the traverse movement and the number of the tracks which can be actually moved.
