PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a good- quality image without causing an abnormal image such as solid or scattering regardless of an environmental condition even in the case of repetitive image forming. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with an image carrier 40, a developing device 61 developing a latent image formed on the image carrier 40, a primary transfer means 11 including an intermediate transfer body 10 to which a toner image on the image carrier 40 is transferred and which carries the toner image and equipped with a primary transfer member 62 for transferring the toner image to the transfer body 10, and a secondary transfer means 22 equipped with a secondary transfer member for transferring the toner image transferred and formed on the transfer body 10 to transfer material. In the device, the member 62 is controlled in terms of an applied current in accordance with the number of image forming sheets counted in the case of repetitive image forming.
