A cosmetic and/or dermatological artificial suntanning composition comprising one or more continuous aqueous phases, a flavylium salt unsubstituted at position 3, substituted by one or more hydroxy or alkoxy radicals and one or more amphiphilic polymers comprising an ethylenically unsaturated monomer with a free or partially or totally neutralized sulfonic group and comprising one or more hydrophobic parts. The flavylium salt is obtained either by synthesis or from a vegetable extract containing it. Independent claims are included for the use of an amphiphilic polymer of 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid to improve coloration and/or the stability of a flavylium salt containing in a cosmetic composition for artificial suntanning, comprising one or more continuous aqueous phases and for a cosmetic suntanning treatment method consisting of applying the claimed composition.
