PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element capable of suppressing occurrence of a crystal defect such as a dislocation or the like by alleviating a strain generated between a clad layer and a guide layer or a strain generated between a contact layer and the clad layer. SOLUTION: The light emitting element comprises an intermediate layer 20 having a composition of an aluminum of that between those of the layer 14 and the layer 15 and having a grating constant of a half of those of the clad layer 14 and the guide layer 15, between the clad layer 14 made of an n-type AlGaN mixed crystal and the guide layer 15 made of an n-type GaN. Thus the strain generated between the layer 14 and the layer 15 is alleviated by a grating constant difference and a thermal expansion coefficient difference, and the crystal defect such as dislocation or the like is suppressed. Accordingly, a deterioration due to an application of a voltage hardly occurs, a rise in an operating current due to a user is suppressed, and a life of the element can be prolonged. |
