PURPOSE: An apparatus for driving the current of a segment type electroluminescent display device is provided to compensate the illumination difference between each of the segments by appropriately controlling control currents to drive each of the segment pixels having a different size each other. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for driving the current of a segment type electroluminescent(EL) display device, wherein the EL display device is operated by applying the driving current corresponding to an image data to each of the column electrodes of the EL display device consisted of a plurality of segment pixels, includes a gray scale table for storing a plurality of gray scale values corresponding to each of the segment pixels and a current adjustment block provided with 8 number of control bit generation block(410) for generating a control bit by logical multiplying the gray scale bit corresponding to each input bit of the image data corresponding to the segment pixel and at least one switching device blocks connected to each of the column electrodes in parallel and 8 number of driving current control blocks(420) for flowing the driving currents being different from each other to the column electrodes with being switched by the control bit inputs.
