PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely prevent unauthorized use and to enable reinstallation. SOLUTION: All software individual identification numbers and the number of remaining corresponding licenses (an initial value 1) are stored in a license information management table 29. At installation, an installation program generates random numbers. A user transmits a software individual identification number 36 and a random number to a host computer 2 by a telephone set 32. The host computer 2 subtracts the number of remaining licenses when it is 1 and informs the user of a result X of an arithmetic operation by both numbers as an installation continuing key by the telephone set 32. A user computer 1 continues an installation processing operation by using the installation continuing key X. Thus, the unauthorized use is surely prevented from both aspects of the installation continuing key X and the number of remaining licenses. In addition, the reinstallation is enabled by restoring the number of remaining licenses from zero to 1 at uninstallation. |
