PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface light emitting device and a liquid crystal display device provided with the same in which a bar light source and a light guide plate can be arranged in accurate positions, in which this arrangement can be retained, and which is superior in reliability. SOLUTION: A front light 10 is provided with the bar light source 13 and the light guide plate 12 having a constitution of making the light of the light source 13 enter from a side end face and emit the light from an emitting face. The light source 13 is supported in the side end part of the light guide plate 12 by a cover member 15 arranged so as to cover the light source 13 and a part of the light guide plate 12, protrusions 15a are formed at the inside of the cover member 15, the light guide plate 12 is handled via the protrusions 15a, and the light guide plate 12 is positioned in its width direction by protruded pieces 16, 16 extendingly installed at both sides of the cover member 15. |
