发明名称 MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium showing a sufficient S/N ratio even for high-density magnetic recording and hardly causing dielectric breakdown of an MR head even when the medium is replayed by using an MR head. SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium has a nonmagnetic layer containing nonmagnetic powder and a binder and a magnetic layer containing ferromagnetic metal powder or ferromagnetic powder of hexagonal ferrite and a binder, in this order on at least one surface of a nonmagnetic supporting body. The nonmagnetic layer contains 10 to 50 parts by mass of carbon black having 10 to 30 nm average particle diameter to 100 parts by mass of the nonmagnetic powder. The magnetic layer has <=0.2μm thickness. In electron beam microanalysis of the ferromagnetic powder, the standard deviation (b) of the intensity of each element to the average intensity (a) satisfies 0.03<=b/a<=0.4. The center face average roughness Ra of the magnetic layer is <=5 nm and the ten-point average roughness Rz of the layer is <=50 nm.
