SOLUTION: A lithographic imaging material comprising a support and a heat sensitive or photosensitive coating is prepared, the coating is imagewise exposed to heat or light to form a latent image consisting of a set of exposed areas in the coating and a set of non-exposed areas in the coating, a processing solution is supplied to the coating to develop the latent image and the processing solution is removed with a suction unit together with substances removed from the exposed areas without removing such substances from the non-exposed areas or together with substances removed from the non-exposed areas without removing such substances from the exposed areas to make a lithographic image.
