PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lever connector that is smoothly mountable. SOLUTION: An operating portion 22 of a lever 20 has an elastic locking piece 27, and when two housings 10 and 40 are normally fitted, the elastic locking piece 27 and a main locking projection 44 formed on the mating male housing 40 are locked together, to lock the lever 20 at a fitting end position and thus lock both housings 10 and 40 together. At mounting of the connector, the elastic locking piece 27 and a preliminary locking projection 15 formed on the female housing 10 can be locked together to lock the lever 20 in a toppled fitting end position, so that the female housing 10 can be operated smoothly for passing it through a through-hole and the like.
