PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling method for an information reproducing device capable of performing reproduction from a position corresponding to the elapsed time after reproduction stop in the case of resuming the reproduction of a recording medium whose reproduction has been interrupted, again. SOLUTION: When a recording medium reproducing means reproduces the recording medium whose reproduction is interrupted again, a reproduction start position is controlled in accordance with the elapsed time between the previous reproduction interruption and the present time and position information showing a position where the reproduction is interrupted. Namely, control is made as follows. In the case where the elapsed time is shorter than a first prescribed time, the recording medium is reproduced from the position where the reproduction is interrupted, in the case the elapsed time is not shorter than the first prescribed time and also is not longer than a second prescribed time, the recording medium is reproduced from the front of a track where the reproduction has been interrupted, and in the case when the elapsed time is longer than the second prescribed time, the recording medium is reproduced from the front of the recording medium.
