PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in the prior art that a lower and upper core layers made of a CoFeNi alloy, etc., having a comparatively high saturation flux density but, because of a low resistivity of this alloy, the eddy current loss increases as a recording frequency rises. SOLUTION: A lower and/or upper core layers 15, 20 are made of a CoFeNiX alloy (X is, S, P, etc.), which has a higher saturation flux density, a higher resistivity and a lower coercive form than those of a CoFeNi alloy. This makes possible manufacturing a thin film magnetic head dealing with high recording density and high recording frequency devices in future.
