PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a polarized light diffraction element whose adhesion force is strengthened. SOLUTION: In the polarized light diffraction element wherein the diffraction efficiency depends on the polarization direction and which has a first transparent substrate 1, a double refraction film 3 having a diffraction grating formed as a periodically rugged grating and adhering onto the first transparent substrate 1 via an adhesion layer 2, an overcoat layer 4 formed on the double refraction film and a second transparent substrate 5 adhering onto the overcoat layer 4 using the overcoat layer 4 as an adhesion layer, an adhesion strengthening part 6 is formed at least at a part on the periphery of the device as the part free from the adhesion layer and the double refraction film between the first and the second transparent substrates and the first and the second transparent substrates strongly adhere to each other by filling the adhesion strengthening part 6 with the material of the overcoat layer 4. |
