PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for information retrieval, which extract various feature quantities by automatically dividing various three- dimensional models into a plurality of areas, efficiently manage and store them, shorten the computation time needed to compute the similarity of a three- dimensional model having a specific area of interest, and present attribute information related to the three-dimensional model to a user, and to provide a computer program for implementing the method and a medium where the program is recorded. SOLUTION: The information retrieval device comprises an object information input means 101, an area dividing means 102, a feature quantity extracting means 103, an object information management and storage means 104, a retrieval condition input means 105, a retrieval parameter generating means 106, an object information retrieving means 107, and a retrieval result presenting means 108. User is able to perform retrieval while paying attention to a certain part in the whole three-dimensional model.
