The flexible tube (10), made from a metal such as steel or aluminium, has a series of annular grooves made in its outer surface (E) by a rotating pressure assembly as it is advanced in line with its lengthwise axis (A). The pressure assembly consists of one or more rollers (20, 21, 22) with spiral outer surface projections (30, 31, 32) that rotate simultaneously about their own axes (50, 51, 52) and the axis of the tube. The rotation of the rollers is selected so as to ensure parallel and identical circular grooves in the metal tube.
