PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a single reel type cartridge capable of surely locking a reel while making it possible to suppress the looseness of a tape. SOLUTION: This single reel type tape cartridge has one reel 2, around which a magnetic tap 3 is wound, arranged inside a case main body 1 and has a reel lock mechanism for preventing the reel 2 from rotating when unused. In the reel lock mechanism, a reel presser foot 16 supported by the case main body 1 in an unrotatable way in the rotating direction of the reel 2 is subjected to pressing energization toward a bottom wall of a boss 12 by a compressed coil spring 17 to make the lock gear teeth 19 of the boss 12 engage with the lock gear teeth 20 of the reel presser foot 16. Pitches P1 of the lock gear teeth 20 of the reel presser foot 16 are two times as long as those P2 of the lock gear teeth 19 of the boss 12. In the lock gear teeth of the reel presser foot 16, the space between base ends 20a of adjacent gear teeth is equal to a pitch P2 of the lock gear teeth 19 of the boss 12.
