PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a program and to reduce a storage area by allowing a microcomputer to sequentially analyze and operate a program described by a compressed instruction code having short code length and capable of identifying only an instruction code necessary for a program. SOLUTION: The microcomputer for sequentially analyzing and operating a program described by a compressed instruction code having short code length and capable of identifying only an instruction code necessary for the program is previously provided with a plurality of instruction code systems so as to change a code system in accordance with the instruction code appearance frequency of each program and the number of instruction codes and a control circuit 4 is provided with a code conversion processing part 12 for converting a compressed instruction code into an original instruction code so as to form 'original instruction code storing address = compressed instruction code value X code length + head address for storing instruction' and a code conversion register 11 for temporally storing information necessary for code conversion. The code conversion processing part 12 converts the compressed instruction code into the original instruction code on the basis of the information stored in the code conversion register 11 and necessary for code conversion and the original instruction code is analyzed and executed by a conventional means.
