PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sticky material-removing agent capable of removing sticky materials contained in waste papers in good efficiency in the treating processes for regenerating the waste papers and producing a high quality regenerated pulp, and a method for removing the sticky materials by using the same agent. SOLUTION: This sticky material-removing agent is a chemical for removing the sticky materials in the treating processes for regenerating the waste papers, and consists of >=1 kind nonionic surfactant selected from a fatty acid ester of a >=6-valent alkane polyol, an ethylene oxide-adduct of the fatty acid ester of the >=6-valent alkane polyol, a fatty acid ester of an intra-molecularly dehydrated compound of the >=6-valent alkane polyol and an ethylene oxide-adduct of the fatty acid ester of the intra-molecularly dehydrated compound of the >=6-valent alkane polyol. The sticky material-removing agent is added to waste paper pulp slurry containing the sticky materials in a disintegrating process and/or maturing process in the waste paper-regenerating processes.
