PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus that can detect a motion vector with a small arithmetic amount. SOLUTION: An image displayed on an LCD 2 is projected onto a photoelectric conversion element 13. An LCD 12 displays an image delayed by one frame with a memory 21. The image displayed on the LCD 12 is projected onto the photoelectric conversion element 13 via a movable prism 14 being superimposed on the projected image of the image displayed on the LCD 2. A control section 15 calculates an autocorrelation value of the images projected in duplicate onto the photoelectric conversion element 13 and calculates a control variable of the moving prism 14 providing a minimum autocorrelation value as a motion vector between the image on the LCD 2 and the image on the LCD 12.
