PURPOSE: A light illumination method in a liquid crystal display device and a liquid crystal display device using the same are provided to fabricate a polarization film protecting sheet at a low cost by using polyethylene terephthalate(PET). CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device using a light illumination method includes a light source for generating light mixed by first light passing a first polarization axis and second light passing a second polarization axis, an optical distribution changing unit for changing the optical distribution of the first and second light, a reflection/polarization film(132) formed with the first polarization axis for passing the first light and changing the second light into the first light to pass, a reflection/polarization film protecting sheet(131) formed with a third polarization axis having a controlled angle with respect to the first polarization axis for passing the first light at a maximum luminance while periodically repeating maximum luminance and minimum luminance of the first light according to an angle with respect to the first polarization axis, and a liquid crystal panel for displaying images by a third light passing through the reflection/polarization film protecting sheet.
