The device includes first ring means (1) coupled rotationally secured to the drive means and having a first clamping wall (12), and second ring means with second clamping wall (10, 11). Spring biased clamping bodies (15, 16) for adjusting the cam shaft are encapsulated in chambers and are released with synchronised load through hydraulic pressurisation. Control fluid ducts (17, 18, 19, 20) open into the chambers and are fed by the oil circuit. The position of the clamping bodies in the chambers depends on the relevant pressure in the volumetric cavities (33).
