PURPOSE: Provided are a device for controlling fabric cut and an apparatus for cutting fabric in a sewing machine, thereby forming button holes having various sizes of length without changing a cutting mess and a mess holder. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for cutting fabric in a sewing machine characteristically controls the fabric cut by moving a fabric cutting mess having an outlet mess part which forms an outlet part of a button hole, and a fabric cutting mess which forms a linear mess part, up and downwardly.
