PURPOSE: A detecting and displaying apparatus of steering position for a steering system is provided to turn conveniently in parking or traveling in a narrow road by check the steering angle of a steering wheel, and to improve travel stability by estimating the forward direction in suddenly starting after parking. CONSTITUTION: A steering system is composed of a steering shaft(17) rotating by a driver, and a steering column(10) installed around the steering shaft. A detecting apparatus(20) is formed in the steering column to detect the rotational angle of the steering shaft. A display apparatus(30) is connected to the detecting apparatus to indicate the rotational angle of the steering shaft to the driver. A detecting unit(22) detects the rotational angle in turning the steering shaft by rotating a steering wheel, and transmits a signal to an electronic control unit(40). The electronic control unit indicates the rotational angle to the driver by flickering a light emitting diode(31).
