PURPOSE: An apparatus for sorting and crushing garbage is provided which pretreats the garbage so that the garbage is easily decomposed before treated by microorganisms. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for sorting and crushing garbage comprises a support(1) consisted of a frame; a lower case(3) which is connected to the upper part of the support, and in which a space is secured; an upper case(5) which is connected to the upper part of the lower case, and in which a hopper(5a) for feeding garbage is installed; a rotation shaft which is coupled to the lower case so that the rotation shaft is rotated by driving force of a motor(13); rotational plates a plurality of which are coupled to the outer circumference of the rotation shaft as the rotational plates are axially being moved; and a plurality of sorting and crushing members which are coupled to the rotational plates by a hinge to sort foreign materials contained in the garbage fed into the hopper and crush the garbage, wherein the sorting and crushing members comprise one or more inclined grooves which are formed on a surface that is in a rotational direction, a mesh member is formed on the bottom of the lower case so that garbage is discharged through the mesh member, a plurality of dams are formed at the inner side of the upper case so that the garbage is smoothly crushed by the sorting and crushing members, an open/shut door is installed at one side of the upper case to discharge foreign materials, a handle fixing member(55) is connected to one side of the upper case to selectively restrict moving of a handle(53), a balance weight(17) is coupled to one side of the rotation shaft for smooth rotation, a pulley is connected to the rotation shaft to receive power through driving of a belt(18) by the motor(13), and a bended pipe is connected to the lower case to prevent odor generated when the lower case is connected to a garbage disposer using microorganisms.
