The present invention refers firstly to an automatic cleaning device for animal stalls, said cleaning device being equipped with a sound-controlled shut-off device which comprises a sound-registering device for the uptake of signals generated at a surface being cleaned, storage means for the storage of said signals and means to perform a comparison process between said stored signals and previously entered values which represent a threshold value for signals generated from a surface having the desired degree of cleanness, secondly to a process for the automatic shutting off of said cleaning device.
