PURPOSE: A portable computer is provided to prevent a hand of a user from contacting with a touch pad during typing. CONSTITUTION: The portable computer(1) includes a main body(3) being equipped with the parts such as a main board and a CPU, and an LCD assembly(5) folding and connecting to an upper part of the main body(3) by a hinge. The main body(3) includes a lower casing(10) and an upper casing(11) forming a part receiving space within the casing by mutual connection. A circumference of the main body(3) is equipped with a floppy disk driver(13), a CD-ROM drive(15) and an external input device connection port(17). A pad opening for exposing the touch pad(30) to the outside and a keyboard installation opening for installing a keyboard(27) are formed on the upper casing(10). A touch pad opening/closing device(40) opening/closing the pad opening to allow or close the exposure of the touch pad(30) is prepared in the main body(30).
