A flotation cell 1 includes an agitator cell 2 with adjacent froth chambers 3 and 4 each having inclined side-walls, side drains 5 and 6 and means for governing the flow through the chamber (see Fig. 4), the agitator cell having wall openings 8 and 9 to the froth chambers which are situated in planes above the agitator vane 7. Incompletely processed heavy liquid flows out to other cells for further treatment through nozzles 8 and through Y-shaped pipe 11, waste heavy liquid being withdrawn at the last cell of the assembly. The nozzle 8 bears loosely on a stationary ring 6 mounted in the bottom of the froth chamber. A plurality of nozzles are provided so that an appropriate one may be assembled to govern the rate of flow from the froth chamber. Alternatively the nozzle may be clamped by comb directly on to the bottom of the chamber. |
