The ring element (1, 2) is made of an elastic material and is provided with teeth protruding from its inner surface. The two ends (3, 4) of the ring (2) are designed as joint elements (5, 6) with a conical head (11) on a short shaft located at one end (6) and a matching recess (9) at the opposite end (5). When the ring (1, 2) is attached to a pipe the grips of a pair of pincers can be inserted into semi-circular recesses (14, 15) provided at the outer surface (8) close to the joint elements (5, 6) in order to facilitate a tight connection.
