The invention relates to an injector for injection fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. An injector body (1) comprises a control space (2), which is permanently subjected to the action of highly pressurized fuel via an inlet (6) situated on the high-pressure side. The control space (2) can be relieved from pressure by means of a control valve (14) whose control valve body (15) is guided in the injector body (1) and a stroke movement is effected inside the injector body (1) due to the pressure relief or the pressure build-up inside the control space (2) of a nozzle needle/plunger assembly (4). The control valve body (15) comprises a guide section (16) whose diameter d1 (17) corresponds to the diameter d2 (19) of a first valve seat (18) of the control valve body (15) on a pressure space (13) in which a flow channel (8) leads that connects the pressure space (13) and the control space (2).
