SPACE-SAVING CATHODE RAY TUBE

PURPOSE: A space-saving cathode ray tube is provided to obtain a CRT with a less depth and an equivalent screen-size where the electron beams are substantially symmetrical at the screen. CONSTITUTION: A display device comprises a tube envelope(40) having a screen(20) with a periphery and a center and a screen electrode on the screen which is biased at a screen potential; a source of electron beams for emitting electron beams colliding against the screen; a deflection yoke(16) for deflecting electron beams at a predetermined scanning angle; a six-pole magnetic field source for concentrating electron beams when electron beams are deflected so as to impinge against the periphery of the screen; a phosphorescent material(23) disposed on the screen so as to generate light corresponding to electron beams impinging against the screen; and a source of the screen potential.
