PURPOSE: To provide a voltage regulator capable of preventing the abnormal operation of an over current protecting circuit. CONSTITUTION: The operating states of a PMOS output driver transistor and a first PMOS sense transistor are always made the same, and the rate of currents made to flow through those transistors are set so as to be transistor size rate so that a drop of an output voltage due to the abnormal operation of an over current protecting circuit when a difference between an input voltage VIN and an output voltage VOUT is small and the inaccuracy of load currents where the over current protecting circuit operates due to the influence of channel length modulation when the difference between the input voltage VIN and the output voltage VOUT is large can be prevented.
