According to the invention, at least one dry and compressible fixing element (FE11 - FE13) is arranged between an optical waveguide (LF11, LFB12, LFB13) and a surrounding chamber element (AH11, AH12, SB13) of an optical transmission element (OE11 - OE13) said fixing element surrounding the optical waveguide either completely or partially, and exerting a defined pressure which acts against the chamber element and the optical wave guide is exerted in order to fix the optical waveguide in the longitudinal direction of the transmission element. The fixing element is embodied and arranged in such a way that the piston of the optical wave guide can be altered by bending or expanding. As a result, it is possible to avoid unacceptable increases in attenuation in the optical waveguide due to bending or alterations in length.
