PURPOSE: An apparatus for controlling coiled front end of hot rolled strip is provided which controls the strip so that it safely approaches to the side of a down coiler, and prevents deterioration of surface quality by preventing damage of a pinch roll due to alien substance or flaws on the surface of the strip transferred to the down coiler. CONSTITUTION: In a coiling apparatus of a hot rolled strip for coiling the strip on a down coiler by pressing a strip using a pinch roll, the apparatus for controlling coiled front end of hot rolled strip comprises an approach guide part(10) comprising a first actuator(12) that is ascended or descended for the upper surface of the strip, and an approach guider(11) which guides the strip so that the front end of the strip ascended or descended by the first actuator(12) to approach to the side of the pinch roll is not directed upward; a guide roller part(20) comprising a second actuator(22) that is ascended or descended for the upper surface of the strip, and a roller(21) which is ascended or descended by the second actuator(22) to press the strip; and a polishing part(30) comprising a third actuator(32) that is ascended or descended for the side of the pinch roll, a polishing material(31b) for polishing the surface of the pinch roll, and a polishing frame(31) which is rotated for the pinch roll by the third actuator(32).
