Viewed along the flange the leading forming jaw (18) face sector (24) performs a first pass and the rear jaw sector a second pass. The first sector flanges to 90 degrees followed by flangeing to 180 degrees by the second pass. The two sectors of the jaw go over into one another and the hammering operation of the forming tool (16) can be electric, hydraulic or pneumatic. The jaw (5) can be exchanged in quick time and the tool submits to robot guidance.
