COSMETIC COMPOSITION CONTAINING VISCUM ALBUM VAR. EXTRACT

PURPOSE: A cosmetic composition containing a Viscum album var. extract exhibiting a cell membrane binding inhibiting effect of MSH for protecting melanin formation, human tyrosinase activity inhibiting effect, tyrosinase-synthesis inhibiting effect, melanin-production inhibiting effect and cell death inhibiting effect, and inflammation-inducing enzyme activity inhibiting effect is provided which is used as a cosmetic having a skin whitening effect and skin irritation reducing effect. CONSTITUTION: Viscum album var. coloratum(KOM.) OHWI. is extracted in one or more solvents selected from purified water, lower alcohol, glycerin, ethyl acetate, butylene glycol, propylene glycol, dichloro methane and hexane. The extract is filtrated then concentrated or freeze-dried. A skin whitening cosmetic contains 0.01 to 30% by weight of the Viscum album var. extract, based on the total weight of the composition.
