<p>The Fe powder is pretreated thermally before addition of Cu, graphite and lubricant for the pressing state. the material is heated in atmospheres of controlled degrees of carburisation to achieve definite final C-contents. Generally, treatment is effected in two stages, by carburisation and decarburisation. It the initial C-content is above the final desired value, an opt. preliminary decarburisation is effecteD. Sintered objects produced from treated powder have excellent dimensional stability, improved mech. strength, hardness and ductility, as well as better strength and abrasion resistance in the green state.</p> |
