PURPOSE: A recombinant virus and a method for expressing foreign genes by a baculovirus expression system using the same virus are provided. The recombinant virus can grow in not insect cells but in E. coli. Thus, it can be useful as a mother vector for producing the foreign gene expressing recombinant virus in the baculovirus expression system. CONSTITUTION: The recombinant virus, bAcGOZA, contains a selection marker gene instead of a polyhedrin gene, mini F replicon and a truncated fragment in which an essential genes for growth of baculovirus are truncated. Wherein the essential genes for growth of baculovirus are ORF 1629 gene, helicase gene, DNA polymerase gene and late gene expression factor(lef). It is capable of growing in not an insect cell but in an E. coli; the selection marker gene is selected from the group consisting of kanamycin resistance gene, ampicillin resistance gene and lacZα gene. A transformant E. coli DH10B/bAcGOZA(KCTC 18077P) is produced by transforming E. coli DH10B with the recombinant virus bAcGOZA. The method for expressing foreign genes comprises the steps of: (1) covering a petri-dish with insect cells and culturing them; (2) washing the insects cells with a serum free medium and culturing them; (3) maintaining a mixed solution of the recombinant virus bAcGOZA DNA, a transfer vector containing a foreign gene and lipopectin at room temperature; (4) mixing the mixture with the serum free medium, inserting the mixture into the insect cells of the step (2), and culturing them for 4 to 5 hours; and (5) removing the mixture from the insects cells, adding a serum-containing medium and culturing them for 4 to 5 days.
