PURPOSE: A system of managing image data using a communication network and a system thereof are provided to release compressed image data to store the released data in database by generating a preview screen, and to make a user select the compressed image data when a request signal for the compressed image data is received from the user's terminal, thereby giving services of sharing pictures, transmitting the pictures, and making albums. CONSTITUTION: A database(30) stores compressed image data and a preview file corresponding to the compressed image data. When the compressed image data are received from a user's terminal connected through a communication network, a main server(20) stores the compressed image data in the database(30), and stores the preview file in the database(30). When a request signal is received for the compressed image data from the user's terminal, the main server(20) withdraws the preview file from the database(30) to transmit the file to the user's terminal, and makes the user select the compressed image data.
