PURPOSE: A payment system and method is provided to recognize a fingerprint of a payer by using a terminal having a function of a fingerprint recognition, to approve a transaction based on the recognized fingerprint so that it can prevent an illegal transaction. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A user scans a fingerprint at a terminal and transmits the fingerprint data to a fingerprint approval server in a case that a user visits an offline store or accesses a web site over the internet, and purchases goods or service(S201, S202). The fingerprint approval server approves the received fingerprint data, generates an approval code on the fingerprint, and transmits the approval code to the terminal(S203). The user inputs the approval code at a credit card processor at the offline store or at a payment page in the web site(S204). The input approval code is transmitted with transaction specifications to a server of a financial organization(S205). The server of the financial organization approves the transaction specifications based on the approval code stored at the fingerprint approval server(S206). If the transaction specifications are approved, the server of the financial organization transmits the approval result to the credit card processor of the offline processor or the web site(S207, S208, S209).
