The core (16) has a thread (18) with acute-angled edges. The windings of the coil (10) lie with frictional engagement between the edges of the thread of the core. The thread may have a V-shaped section. The core may be magnetizable. The core may be a ferrite core. The coil may comprise copper wire windings, with electrical insulation. An Independent claim is also included for a method of manufacturing a coil with a core.
