PURPOSE: A mechanical counter is provided to display a position of an elevator even in a power failure, preventing safety accident. CONSTITUTION: A speed detecting portion(11) detects speed of a motor(10). A counting portion(12) counts signal detected from the speed detecting portion. A RAM(13) is provided to store story of the elevator by counted value. A controller(14) outputs control signal by comparing counted value with the stored value of the RAM. A position display(15) displays driving direction by the controller. A ROM(16) is provided to store driving program of the elevator.
