Coated positive grid for lead-acid battery and methods of forming

A coated positive grid (20) for a lead acid battery (52) is provided. The coated positive grid includes a strip lead or lead alloy (22) and a coating of lead or lead alloy (24). The strip has first and second surfaces, and a linear elongated grain structure (26) oriented parallel to the first and second surfaces. The coating is disposed on the first surface. The coating has a random grain structure (30). The random grain structure and the linear elongated grain structure conduct electrical current between the coated positive grid and an active material (28) of the lead acid battery.
