Receiver for filtering and sorting schedule data

A receiver for receiving televisions signals and sorting data, the sorting data defining a sorting list and scheduling data defining a schedule of programming events, the receiver being arranged to filter the scheduling data depending of the sorting data to produce a filtered programme schedule. Events in the schedule may be sorted according to genre, sub-genre or market oriented data and may be sorted by time or alphabetically. The receiver may be arranged to filter data relating to pay-per-view events and may also filter promotional video data relating to selected pay-per-view events for display with corresponding portions of the pay-per-view schedule. Also disclosed; a method of constructing an image of an event by identifying text portions in a dictionary of text portions, comparing bouquet and sub-bouquet identities to determine which of a number of programmes or services should be displayed and displaying a schedule of programmes for identified channels in a time shifted service.
