Scrap fiber refeed system and method

A method of producing a non woven fibrous mat from scrap and virgin fibres has the steps of; 1) directing scrap fibres (55) into opening appts. (50) to open and eliminate fibre clumps and nodules (56), 2) drawing the scrap fibres into venturi (70) to reduce conveying air turbulence and impart a laminar air flow reducing scrap fibre entanglement, 3) blowing the scrape fibres into a virgin fibre rich air stream mixing both fibres, 4) collecting the fibre mixture to form a non woven mat. Also claimed is an appts.to perform the method.
