PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a serial printer of a type coping with tilting and a serial printer to be mounted in a vehicle in which a carriage drive motor is prevented from power swing or overload operation even when a carriage shaft is set in a state with an inclination. SOLUTION: The serial printer 1 of the type coping with tilting is used in a state in which the carriage shaft 112 is made horizontal and in a state in which the carriage shaft 112 becomes inclined. The serial printer 1 has a carriage drive motor output adjustment means 2061 for sending a signal for adjusting an output of the carriage drive motor 2101 in accordance with the inclination of the carriage shaft 112 to the carriage drive motor.
